Thank You West Side Sewing Studio

Global pandemic? Where are my scissors? These stories of how regular people are just rolling up their sleeves and pitching in are so heartening. This news comes from the Steel Yard.

We can all breathe easier knowing The West Side Sewing Studio has got us covered! Over the past couple weeks, our neighbor, tenant, and Steel Yard Instructor Patti Barnatt, alongside her fabulous army of sewing students have made hundreds of masks, gowns, and caps for various medical facilities and the general public.

Not that it matters to those on the front line, but these vintage fabrics are extra cool.

So maybe, when things get back to normal, you could sign up for sewing lessons.

All classes are individualized instruction; each person works at his/her own level and speed making whatever he/she wants, whether home decor or clothing projects. Students design their own curriculum. Classes, which run year-round, are kept very small ( 3-5 people) so each person gets the attention she needs.

We have Elna 3230 machines for student use in the classroom but people are always welcome to bring their own machines. Private lessons are also available on an as-needed basis in the studio or at home at $60. an hr.

Each class is 2.5 hours long and meets once a week. A 4-week session paid upfront for the month is $140, a 3-week month is $105. A single drop-in class (if space allows) is $40.00.

Thank you West Side Sewing Studio!
