The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is currently hiring its seasonal cohort of lifeguards (freshwater and saltwater beaches), beach managers, park rangers and naturalists, recreational area clerks, facilities attendants, and campground attendants. Must be 16 or older. According to the Providence Journal there are both full and part-time lifeguard positions available:
Flexible, 20-hour workweeks are available. Hourly rates for lifeguards range from $13.25 to $16.25, based on location and position level. All lifeguard candidates must have successfully completed courses and hold valid cards in lifeguard training, first aid, and CPR including infant, child, and adult.
The DEM is also looking for rangers and attendants to work at recreational facilities around the state:
Park rangers give directions to beachgoers and park users, help with crowd control, provide security checks for facilities, and are the first responders in the event of emergency. Hourly rates for park rangers range from $10.50 to $11.60.
