Newport/Providence Ferry Starts

The Seastreak Providence-to-Newport ferry service kicks off this Friday with adjustments for the safe spacing of passengers. Weekend service to Bristol is back. From the ProJo:

To keep everyone safe, the number of riders on the 149-passenger ferry will be reduced based on the state’s Phase II reopening guidelines. During fair weather, when outdoor seating is available, 90 passengers will be allowed aboard. During inclement weather, conditions when outdoor seating is a challenge, 60 passengers will be allowed to board.

RIDOT and SeaStreak will announce any changes to service or capacity limits as necessary, based on the weather and guidance from the state Department of Health.

Go here for schedule. There is even a shuttle bus circling the downtown area for getting to the terminal on India Street.

Complimentary shuttle bus service between the Providence train station, convention center, downtown, and the Providence to Newport ferry terminal.

Round trip is $22. Seniors, disabled, and children (3-12) cost $11 round trip. Babies ride free! (Babies must be accompanied by an adult and remain adorable at all times.)

The Block Island ferry is off to a rough start vis-a-vis compliance with mask-wearing rules. (ProJo 6.22.20)
