Fox Point elementary students were welcomed back in September with this captivating door mural. The fox is the mascot of Vartan Gregorian Elementary School on Wickenden Street and The Avenue Concept (TAC) ran with the idea. Providence Monthly reports:
The mural was designed by Myles Dumas and implemented with the help of The Avenue Concept and City Councilor John Goncalves. According to Dumas and VG parent Jack Rusley, who spoke about the project at an FPNA meeting in July, the idea emerged as a way to increase the school’s identity in the community and improve morale for students and teachers.
The extreme geometry of the door panels gives it a cool Mondrian look. The project was executed with the help of Adler’s (natch) as well as Graphic Innovations which does wide format printing and vehicle wraps; I’m not sure how to describe the medium used here.
Thanks also to the Fox Point Neighborhood Association and the Wickenden Area Merchants Association.
