(12.2) Register now to take part in a virtual Zoom meeting with theoretical physicist, Kip Thorne, he of the infamous Black Hole wager with Stephen Hawking. From the ICERM at Brown:
Please join us for an exciting Q&A with Nobel prize-winning physicist Kip Thorne. Professor Thorne will briefly review the crucial role and history of computation in the detection of gravitational waves, and take your questions on all issues relating to computational physics and science in general.
The event will be introduced and moderated by renowned physicist Richard Price, and 2021 Einstein Prize awardee Saul Teukolsky will give an introductory talk on the computational challenges and solutions for simulating black holes and gravitational waves on computers, and the interesting science that can be done thanks to the LIGO and VIRGO gravitational-wave detectors.
The event is free. Go here to register.
Virtual ICERM event, 6:30pm to 7:30pm, Wednesday, December 2
