This makes me want to cry. For those needing a little help right now, India Restaurant on Hope Street will be offering 100 free meals a day — fresh, warm, and healthy, chicken or vegan — between 2pm and 5pm, for the month of December. They are urging everyone to spread the word. They even had a sign made for the awning! As if these folks weren’t already neighborhood faves. From their Facebook page:
Due to this, during the month of December, we would like to offer 100 FREE healthy meals every day to people struggling this holiday season. We encourage people in need to stop by our restaurant and pick up fresh warm healthy chicken or vegan meals between 2:00PM to 5:00PM, to go.
If you are blessed with an abundance this holiday season, then please help us spread the word to those who would enjoy a free hot meal with us. We would love to add cheer and some spice to our community’s life this holiday season.
Gail Ciampa of the ProJo spoke with the owner:
“At India, we feel a deep sense of gratitude for more blessings than we can count,” said the email from India owner Ajay Vinoben. “Most of all, we are thankful to our community that continues to greatly support us.”
Such generosity of spirit. And I’m sure loyal customers will keep showing their support. (The food is great — the restaurant has won several “Best of” awards.) They add, “We are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, for dine-in, take-out, and delivery through Grubhub!”
