Covid Testing Pop-Up Downtown

This is a rapid testing site for asymptomatic people only. No appointment is necessary and you get your results within about 15 minutes. The Department of Health’s “Holiday Pop-Up Testing” was designed to catch the holiday shoppers, although this particular site is not linked to a shopping venue in an any way. What I can not find is any reference as to how long these will be running. Holiday might indicate that this is seasonal and will end soon, but if they are successful and efficient they will probably keep going.

The one at the corner of Weybosset and Dorrance Streets seems to be running smoothly. This photo was taken earlier today and out-of-frame to the left was a very short line of people. State Senator Josh Miller gave the facility a thumbs-up Tuesday when he revealed that his recent visit went quickly and that he was negative.

More general info at WPRI. They spoke with DOH spokesperson, Joseph Wendelken:

“If someone is experiencing symptoms, they should approach things differently,” he said. “They should not be going to the mall, or another site where there are lots of people. This is really specifically for asymptomatic people.”

Check the DOH Rapid Covid Testing events for locations around the state. The list is updated regularly.

N.B. Getting a negative test result in the next few days does not mean you can then attend a crowded New Year’s party like an idiot. It doesn’t matter if every single person at the party was tested that day! A test does not provide any protection going forward.

11am to 5pm, Covid Testing, 79 Dorrance Street, (directions)
