Last September it looked like the end, but things have worked out for Scialo Brothers Bakery. Carol Gaeta, whose family opened the shop in 1916, no longer owns the business, but she will be staying on. This feels like a hopeful sign. Gaeta spoke to Gail Ciampa at the ProJo:
She is running the bakery with her staff and her recipes, but “it is under new management,” she said. She declined to name the new owner.
“It’s surreal,” she said. “I’m very happy.”
“It’s the best of both worlds,” Gaeta added.
Closed Mondays. No fruit pies for now.
