Boutique Hotel In Olneyville

This former textile mill on Dike Street is now Dye House, a boutique hotel and event space. URI alums, Everett and Valerie Abitbol, fell for the former American Woolens Dye mill and decided to run with that theme. You can learn all about it the way I did, from the June issue of Providence Monthly:

Dye House has four suites: Three of which are named for textile terms, and a singular event space is known as The Studio, which locals might remember as the former ceramics studio of J Schatz

The Dye House website describes The Studio:

Once a dye house and weaving room for American Woolen & the Weybosset Mill Complex, later a ceramics studio for J Schatz, The Studio is our dedicated event space where weddings and celebrations will go long into the night. Framed by twenty-foot gabled ceilings, the original red brick floor and dozens of windows, the atmosphere is one of expansion and intimacy.

The prices seem quite reasonable with suites starting at $119 a night, and pets under 50 pounds are welcome. Smoking is not allowed.

What is a heddle? “One of a set of looped wires or cords in a loom, with an eye in the center through which a warp yarn is passed before going through the reed to control its movement and divide the threads.”

The hotel property abuts Wes’ Rib House.
