(7.10) Noted music photojournalist, and Providence native, Richard McCaffrey, and designer Robert Blunt will be celebrating the release of their new book, Richard’s Rock & Roll Alphabet with a book signing at Muldowney’s Pub, Thursday. Two more days of local book-signings follow (see below). Think of the shows this man has seen! McCaffrey’s subjects include: the Clash, Led Zeppelin, Tom Waits, Bowie, Springsteen, and Blondie. It’s pretty much everybody. Music writer Rob Duguay has a great write-up in the ProJo:
The 70-page book features an A-to-Z compendium of artists and bands from McCaffrey’s collection, as well as pictures and descriptions of the venues where the photographs were taken. Robert Blunt, who developed and designed the book, came up with the idea after becoming an uncle and talked to McCaffrey about it at Patrick’s Pub in Providence back in 2019.
Two-hour book-signings on tap:
7pm, Thursday, July 8 — Muldowney’s Pub, 121 Empire Street
7pm, Friday, July 9 — Patrick’s Pub, 381 Smith Street
2pm, Saturday, July 10 — Round Again Records, 278 Wickenden Street
5pm to 7pm, Saturday, July 10 — POP Emporium, 219 West Park Street
The book costs $35 and will have a limited run of 199 copies, numbered and signed by both McCaffrey and Blunt. (So don’t let your sticky-fingered, runny-nosed children anywhere near this!) Blunt has also curated a Spotify playlist with one song from each featured musician.
