(10.9) Once a year talented RISD alumni and students close off Benefit Street between Waterman and Hopkins, and set up shop. RISD Craft is many cuts above the average craft fair, as it should be, these people went to RISD. So get down there, buy something unique and fabulous, and help these artists pay off their student loans. Win-win.
RISD Craft, the annual juried sale, features handmade fine art and design work by more than 90 alumni and 25 current students. The work on view speaks to the quality, attention to detail and mastery of craftsmanship students and alumni hone at RISD and bring to their own practices in a wide variety of media.
This juried selection includes furniture, textiles, jewelry, printmaking, glass, ceramics, fine art, and more. Speaking of unique, seen here is the work of A. T. Pratt (Illustration ’13).

I also create and sell paper sculptures that can either sit on a surface or be hung on a wall. I aim to stretch the boundaries of what can be told in sequential narrative storytelling as well as what types of visual experiences can be expressed with paper outside of the realms

If they made candy in Murano, it would look like the sculpted glass jewelry of Janine Bressner.
And check out the knitty, three-dimensional scarves by Jeung-Hwa Park. Art you can wear.

Fabulous event, and don’t forget the very next day, Sunday is the huge LP Record Show from 10-3 at the Seekonk Ramada Inn. (Might find an original of the first Dead Boys LP on Sire.)
