(10.29) The Providence Flea and Witches Night Out Market will be brewing up some Halloween magic this Friday night, featuring an outdoor “Witches Way” mini market, an outdoor lighted labyrinth, an indoor Readers’ Way with Tarot readers, plus an ancestors altar and an art installation of mystical figure Baba Yaga. In Slavic folklore, Baba Yaga is a supernatural being who appears as a deformed or ferocious-looking old woman. In Slavic culture, Baba Yaga lived in a hut usually described as standing on chicken legs. Baba Yaga may help or hinder those who encounter her or seek her out.
This is all in addition to the usual lineup of 65 local vintage vendors and makers. Several food trucks will be on hand: Spanglish, Incredabowl, Saugy’s. RI Cruisin Cocktails and New Harvest Coffee and Spirits Bar will be serving up special cocktails for the 21+ crowd. Costumes or all-black attire encouraged. (Facebook event.)
