‘Hocus Pocus 2’ On Federal Hill

Word spread quickly that the “Hocus Pocus 2” film crew had set up on Atwells Avenue between Sutton Street and DePasquale Plaza for some weekend filming. Business was normal earlier today, but a couple of those towering bucket trucks were still parked on the street, so I suspect there will be more activity tonight. According to the ProJo:

Around midday on Friday, a few hours before filming was set to begin, street signs that say “Atwells Avenue” had been taken down and were waiting to be replaced with a new set bearing the seal of Salem, Massachusetts, and fictional street names like “Gibbet Lane.”

A vacant storefront at 299 Atwells Ave., next to Harry’s Burger and Beer, has been turned into the “Odd Meter Coffee Company of Salem, Mass.,” with signs advertising an “Oh My Gourd Latte” and other fall-themed coffee drinks.

“Hocus Pocus 2” brings back Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker, and now we all know why Tony Hale was seen around town! Love him. What is this sequel about?

Three young women accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.

The intersection of Gibbet Lane and Walcott Road is actually Acorn Street at Atwells Avenue (where Tony’s Colonial is).

So don’t be deterred if you had planned some shopping or eating on Federal Hill today. But later tonight there may be a detour.
