The Roger Williams Park Zoo is open daily for the school break. And while these flamingos look all delicate and tropical, the zoo assures us, they are hardier than they look: “Thanks to their ability to tolerate extreme conditions, like the elevated altitude in the Andes, Chilean flamingos are well-suited for winter’s cooler temperatures.”
Winter is a great time to visit with half-priced admission now through February 28th. Enjoy an outdoor family adventure right here at your Zoo. Smaller crowds allow for more time to observe and learn about our animals. See if you can catch our snow leopards playing in the snow, red pandas munching on bamboo, and flamingos enjoying their heated pool.
Timed-entry ticket requirements are still in effect for non-members. Go here to reserve tickets.
Winter hours: The zoo is open daily from 10am to 4pm during Providence school vacations, and 10am to 4pm, Thursdays through Mondays the rest of the winter schedule.
And here’s some good news: The ProJo reports that 2021 was a banner year for zoo attendance.
The Providence zoo had 834,960 visitors last year, an increase of 23.5% over 2019, and the most visitors the 150-year-old zoo has had since it started keeping track, the zoo announced this week.
Makes sense.
