‘The Quiet Man’ At Prov Place

(3.17) You don’t have to drink to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day . . . why not grab some popcorn enjoy the 1952 classic ‘The Quiet Man’ on the big screen.

Celebrating 70 years, John Ford’s The Quiet Man is simply one of the greatest love stories ever told. John Wayne is retired boxer Sean Thornton who makes a pilgrimage to his home village in Ireland in order to claim his family’s estate. He meets his match in the spirited young Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O’Hara) only to find himself confronted by her belligerent brother and the town’s strict customs.

An Oscar winner for Best Director and Cinematography.

Not rated. Running time: 2 hours, 15 minutes. Goes by fast. O’Hara is fabulous.

7pm, Thursday, March 17, Prov Place Cinema, Mall, (directions)

  1. Have wanted to see this since my father told me about how wonderful it was, while we were having lunch in a Scottish restaurant (!) in Alexandria, Virginia (!!), many years ago.
