It’s a date . . . it’s an area code . . . it’s a day for giving. If your inbox did not explode this morning with “suggestions” we have a few you can use:
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank really stepped up during the quarantine, and rising food costs will will only create more need. Dorcas International is another organization with a stellar record and years of experience; they stepped right up to the plate when the Afghan refugees arrived.
And we all need music: Community MusicWorks stepped into the void years ago when school music programs all but disappeared. For those leaning more towards the punk/rock/metal scene there’s RIOTRI (formerly Girls Rock RI).
And what about democracy? We can all rest a little more easily knowing that Common Cause Rhode Island is keeping an eye on things. And remember to support the candidates who are running for local office . . . the honest, competent, not-crazy ones.
And the environment? Save the Bay has been keeping an eye on Narragansett Bay for years, on the water and in the courts. And the peregrine falcon nesting box is only part of why we support the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. But that nesting box does require maintenance and video equipment and helmets and a ladder.
Love animals? The Providence Animal Rescue League is a fine organization.
Feel good by doing good.
