(5.7) This daylong festival takes place in two locations on May 7th: Sutton Street during the day and it’s then over to the AS220 main stage for the evening.
11am to 5pm — The schedule for the PVD Cello Fest on Sutton Street features sixteen local cellists playing in a variety of styles and genres, starting with an Old Time Jam, “Bring your instrument — all levels welcome!” The remainder of the afternoon will include contemporary works, Bach suites, and “improvisations for cello and shruti box.” Tickets: $10-25 sliding scale.
7:30pm to 11:45pm — The evening program on the main stage at AS220 will be a Multi-Genre Event, “A night of original songs and improvisations, featuring Laura Wolf, Prior Panic, Zan Berry, and Isabel Castellvi, followed by a community performance of Terry Riley’s piece in C!” Tickets: $15.
And here’s an interesting side note: This glorious old carriage house at 159 Sutton Street — once part of the Barnaby’s Castle property — has just been put on the market.
Built in the Second Empire style, circa 1875, this majestic building was once part of the famed Barnaby’s Castle. . . The second level contains a large city apartment with all the amenities. Its scale feels loft like, however, the two bedroom suites, each with an en-suite bath offers plenty of privacy.
The gallery space, with kitchenette and half bath, is on the ground floor. Go take a look.
