Hope Street Farmers Market Returns

The weather may be a little iffy, light rain/sprinkles are expected in the morning, then clearing. Not ideal but let’s assume it’s a go for the Hope Street Farmers Market Opening Day.

Expected vendors include: Hopkins Southdowns, Narragansett Creamery, the Local Catch, Yacht Club Soda, Robin Hollow Farm, Pat’s Pastured, Wishing Stone Farm, Zephyr Farm, and more.

Sorry to report that the Henry Bowen Anthony fountain does not seem to be running at this time. It was brought back to life back in 2015, but has since been off and on again. (We wrote it up in 2018 when it was working again.)

The faces accenting this 1940 Moderne sculpture are fascinating: one looks like an angry Viking; another, like a character out of Avatar who cut her bangs too short; and then there is the startled female, seen here, sporting a kicky flyaway bob. And they all look even weirder with water pouring out of their mouths.

Want one of your own? Now you can fabricate a replica. This page for 3DMixers came up in a search and seems to provide instructions that anyone with a 3D printer will understand. (I am not one of those people so I can not elaborate.) Seems kind of cool.

For updates on Saturday’s weather check on the FB page or IG. But come on, the farmers work in the rain . . . you can shop in the rain.

Hope Street Farmers Market, 9am to 1pm, Saturday, May 7, Lippitt Park, (directions)
