Gansett Brewery History On PBS

(5.25) In what Rhode Island PBS is calling a ‘lager than life’ film event, the newest Rhode Island PBS original documentary recounts the history of one of Rhode Island’s most famous icons: “Hi-Neighbor! The Story of the Narragansett Brewing Company” debuts at 8pm on Wednesday, May 25, on-air and online. I just watched the trailer — the rumor that employees could drink as much beer during their shift as they wanted turns out to be true!

So, relax on your couch like Homer, or join the watch party at the current site of the brewery on Tockwotton Street at India Point.

Current Narragansett Brewing Company President Mark Hellendrung will be joining RIPBS President David Piccerelli to present the documentary on television.

The brewery has a great ‘our story’ slideshow as does Art In Ruins. The documentary will be available to stream on demand after June 10.

Watch Party, 8pm, Wednesday, May 25, Gansett Brewery, 271 Tockwotton Street, (directions)
