‘Open Air Saturdays’ Downtown

It’s the first Saturday of the month so it must be time for InDowncity’s  ‘Open Air Saturday.’

Each Open Air Saturdays event will feature live music performances, a rotating line-up of food trucks, two beer gardens, two marketplaces, outdoor games and activities, ample outdoor dining at local restaurants, and more. We encourage attendees to make a day of it by visiting multiple locations throughout downtown: Grant’s Block, Aborn Street, Union Street, Biltmore Park, and the BankNewport City Center [the rink].

Seen here is Aborn Street, always cozy and off the beaten path. And it looks like it will be completely closed off to traffic this Saturday for music and bocce! The Shep Fairey mural is right across from Durk’s.

On Aborn Street (between Washington Street and Westminster Street) Rosalina will have outdoor dining and a bocce court in the street.

On the same block, Durk’s Bar-B-Q welcomes Bud Runner for two sets of live reggae and jam music starting at 12:30 p.m. Patrons can enjoy Durks’ famous whisky-based cocktails outdoors, as well as a selection of smoked meats and barbecue.

Check out the OAS website for helpful maps, schedule, and links to venues. There’s live music and DJs all around, food trucks. Two more to go: September 3 and October 1.

Open Air Saturdays, noon to 6pm, Saturday, August 6, downtown
