River Paddle Downtown

(8. 21) The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council invites the public to a paddle on the river through downtown Providence this Sunday. This will give you a whole new perspective on the city.

We will start at the boat launch on South Water St. and travel to Eagle Square. Along this route there are opportunities to observe diverse wildlife including Herons, Ducks, Cormorants, American Eels, Box Turtles and several species of fish. The trip will also pass by a number of historic sites which range in scope from the colonial to modern periods of Providence’s history.

There is no charge, but pre-registration is required. The kayaks are already booked, but canoes are still available. Or bring your own boat.

The South Water Street launch is on the east side of the river, at the upper end of where the Flea is held. More or less across from the Wild Colonial . . . a perfect place to end up.

Meet 4pm, launch 4:30pm, Sunday, August 21, South Water Street boat launch, (directions)
