(9.18) Head over to the RISD Museum this Sunday for “Work in Progress: Painting Intuitively” and watch as artist Yukyung Chung turns the Radeke Garden and the adjacent Danforth Hall into her studio.
Watch as artist Yukyung Chung (RISD MFA, Digital + Media, 2023) responds to her composed soundscape through live painting. Chung’s artistic practice explores intuitive creative expression in contrast to an intentional, controlled approach. Following Chung’s painting session, hear about her process and discuss the results.
The Radeke Garden is a beautifully landscaped interior courtyard featuring statues of mythical nymphs and Pan and such . . . plenty of hostas and other shade-loving plants, as well as the fabulous ginkgo. This space is generally open to the public but the entrance is sort of hidden and easily missed. It is a lovely place to sit alone, closer to the Benefit Street entrance.
No admission charged to museum on Sundays.
Free, 2pm to 3:30pm, Sunday, September 18, RISD Museum, 224 Benefit Street, (directions)
