PVD Comprehensive Plan — Open House

(6.22) Once every ten years, the City of Providence reviews the Comprehensive Plan, an urban planning policy document that guides growth and development in Providence, and each neighborhood. It’s an opportunity to define what sustainable growth looks like for Providence, how to adapt to climate change, transportation, zoning — and how we can preserve the places and neighborhoods that define Providence. From the Providence Preservation Society:

The end result will impact the decisions of the City Plan Commission and the advocacy work of PPS for the next ten years. It is vital that everyone come out to represent their communities.

While developing the I-195 parcels along the river (seen here) will play a big role in the city’s future, the Comprehensive Plan addresses all aspects of life for the entire city going forward: sustainability and the environment; business and jobs; housing; land use; the waterfront; and zoning.

Learn more about how to get involved in this once-a-decade opportunity. Refreshments and Spanish-language interpretation will be provided. The event is family-friendly and open to the public.
