Movies At The Rink

(8.19) The feature this weekend will be The Super Mario Bros. Movie which I am assuming is not the awful 1993 version. For parents wanting a night out with the kids, this new animated rendition will be essentially review-proof, and has probably already been viewed several times. Having said that, the New York Times was less than enthusiastic:

. . . while the details are meticulous, the attitude is all wrong, trading the simple, unaffected charm that has served the character so well since his introduction in 1981 for a snarky and fatuous air that leans hard on winking humor and bland, hackneyed irony.

Reserved Seating — Adult admission: $7. Child admission: $4.

General admission is free. Lawn chairs are permitted in the GA area. They will even be provided if you don’t have one . . . just ask. Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted.

The Trinity Beer Garden will be open from 1pm to 10pm with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There is a Subway on site. And free popcorn!

Rated PG. Running time: 1 hour, 32 minutes.

Starts sundown, Saturday, August 19, Movies on the Rink, 2 Kennedy Plaza, (directions)
