Kenan Thompson holds high his Green Ink purchases (swing cardigan, low cozy socks); unfortunately the wacky mayhem in the new teaser for “Good Burger 2” reveals that his satisfaction was short-lived. Thompson and Kel Mitchell — reprising their roles as burger-flippers Dexter and Ed — took over Wayland Square last May to shoot scenes for the sequel to their 1997 teen comedy “Good Burger.” The movie crew refitted a former Friendly’s in North Providence to stand in as the burger shop (see below). From Variety:
“Good Burger” originated as a sketch on the Nickelodeon series “All That” in which Mitchell starred as Ed. It was then spun off into the 1997 film. It proved to be a box office success, grossing just under $24 million against a reported budget of $8 million.
The cast includes Lil Rel Howery and Carmen Electra. Abe Vigoda was not available.
The movie will start streaming in November on Paramount Plus. Go here to view the teaser/trailer.
