Governor’s Cup At Brown

(10.7) The 41st Governor’s Cup football game will be held this Saturday at Brown Stadium on Elmgrove Avenue with kickoff set for noon. Brown (2-1) and URI (3-2) are both coming off home victories last weekend.

The game will be the 107th all-time meeting between the two in-state rivals on the gridiron. They have been playing annually since 1909, taking time off during pandemics and world wars. Brown holds an all-time record of 73-31-2 against the Rams, with Rhody holding a 21-19 edge since the Governor’s Cup was presented for the first time in 1981. (Yeah, we didn’t really take it seriously until there was a cool prize.)*

New amenities at the Brown Stadium this year include: Expanded Narragansett beer garden selling their limited edition Bruno Brew; alcoholic beverages to be sold at stands throughout the stadium; the new Bruno’s Backyard with kids activities; and Brown apparel will be sold at all games.

Looks like tickets are still available.

Additional note: URI beat Brown 34-30!
