Election Day — Vote Amo (Amo Wins!)

[Update: Amo won with 65% of the vote, becoming the first Black person to represent the state in Congress. We are in good hands. Hooray! BC]. Tuesday is Election Day and residents of Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District have an easy choice to make: Vote for the Democrat, Gabe Amo. The good news is that you can do this with considerable enthusiasm. Gabe has a plan: He will fight for a federal ban on assault weapons; work to protect women’s reproductive rights by codifying Roe v. Wade; and fight to protect Social Security and Medicare.

He will also fight to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act; support legislation that helps fight climate change (he takes no money from the fossil fuel industry); ensure that billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, and work to lower the cost of prescription drugs. And he has experience in Washington having worked in the White House under both Presidents Obama and Biden.

Or we can send a Republican to represent Rhode Island in the House of Representatives where he will have to support the odious new speaker, Mike Johnson, who thinks dinosaurs hitched a ride on Noah’s ark: “What we read in the bible are historical events.”

As for endorsements . . . Gabe can now add former President Barack Obama to the list.

Weather is clearing, becoming sunny and warm. High of 65°.
