‘Portugalia Pop Up’ At Gansett Brewery

(4.4) Tinned fish! I’ve been on board with this food trend since the first grade when I brought my first sardine sandwich into the Gordon School lunchroom, much to the horror of my classmates. I did not care. I knew people would come around sooner or later . . . and now they have. Fans of Portuglia Marketplace in Fall River can get a quick fix this Thursday evening when the Narragansett Brewery pairs their craft brews with a variety of tinned fish.

Join us and our Neighbors from Portugulia in Fall River for a curated tray of tinned fish and accoutrements paired with our craft brews.

The crew from Portugalia will be in the taproom on Thursday, but we’re keeping some extra tins to serve over the weekend! So don’t worry if you miss the first night.

You had me at accoutrements.

Free, Portuglia Pop Up, 5pm to 8pm, Thursday, April 4, Narragansett Brewery, 271 Tockwotton Street, India Point (directions)

And if you haven’t been to the Portuglia Marketplace in Fall River, put it on your bucket list. And then fill the bucket with bacalhau and olives and many cheeses and mackerel and Pastéis de Natas and many wines and octopus and decorative housewares and cookbooks and anchovies . . . you’re gonna need another bucket. This place is huge and beautiful.

Founded over 30 years ago by Fernando Benevides and now run by his two children, Michael and Jennifer, the 20,000-square-foot store has become the leading provider of Portuguese specialty foods and home goods in the United States. With over 1300 different Portuguese wines and spirits, a café offering Portuguese baked goods, a prepared foods counter, and a large, temperature-controlled room for salt cod, customers can truly immerse themselves in Portuguese culture and cuisine.

And if you are looking for a gift, check out the kits created by Moses Brown grad, Harrison Weinfeld, aka The Sardinfluencer. (I don’t believe he will be on hand Thursday.)
