New Japanese Market Opens

Maruichi Japanese Food and Deli opens this Saturday downtown on Washington Street (where the Rory’s used to be). They will be welcoming the neighbors with a gyoza (pork potstickers) demo and tasting from 10am to 6pm on opening day. Gail Ciampa writes at the ProJo:

Maruichi boasts a variety of prepared foods. Nakama said their onigiri (Japanese rice balls) are the most popular product. “We do also sell quite a bit of sushi and donburi, rice bowls topped with different proteins,” he said.

Other prepared foods will include sashimi, bento boxes, seaweed salads and other specialties from Japanese cuisine. The in-store café will serve Japanese snacks, matcha lattes and Japanese coffee and teas.

The frozen bag of pork gyoza will be on sale opening day for $5.99. Follow on IG.

Opening day, Saturday, April 20, Maruichi, 113 Washington Street, (directions)
