SCLT Rare Plant Sale

(5.19) Time to get planting. The Southside Community Land Trust will be holding its 32nd annual Rare & Unusual Plant Sale this weekend. And it’s not just vegetables. Your eyes will be bigger than your yard when you see the variety of fruit, herbs, edible flowers, perennials, natives, and ornamentals for sale. And there really are rare and unusual varieties, with helpful and knowledgeable people around (many are other customers) to help with your decisions.

The Plant Sale features 20,000 city-grown, city-sown vegetable, herb, and fruit plants, including a wide variety of medicinals. All plant starts have been grown with love, using organic and regenerative practices, from seed in our greenhouse at City Farm, Rhode Island’s longest operating urban farm. Plant Sale also features hundreds of sought-after native perennials carefully curated and generously donated by local nurseries.

Live music will include Circle of the Drum, Chris Monti, Phil Edmonds,Mira Goldman, Kenny Ellis and Sean Martin, the Southside Three, Karen Isenberg, and, starting at 1pm sharp on Sunday, you can enjoy the dulcet tones of The ‘Mericans who have been performing their unplugged acoustic sets at this event for many  years.

They accept SNAP/EBT, cash, credit/debit as payment for your plants. Follow the SCLT on FB for updates.

Free and open to the public, 10am to 2pm, Saturday, May 18 & Sunday, May 19, SCLT, City Farm, 168 West Clifford Street, (directions)
