Portuguese Festival At District Park

The Rhode Island Day of Portugal celebration kicked off today at the State House with the usual speechifying, but the fun really starts Saturday at 5pm when the Day of Portugal Heritage Festival sets up in District Park. The festivities continue on Sunday when the parade kicks off at 2pm on Smith Street in front of the State House.

Festival, Saturday, June 8, 5pm: Bring your appetite to the Heritage Festival at the District Park for the grilled sardines, bifanas and malassadas. Live performances by the Eterna Luz band, Gaitas da Nossa, and more. The festival resumes at 2pm on Sunday.

Parade, Sunday, June 9, 2pm: Starts at the State House on Smith Street, continues down Canal Street, to Memorial Boulevard, South Water Street, over the pedestrian bridge, ending at the party in the District Park.
