‘Taste Of Juneteenth’ — Farm Fresh

(6.19) Head over to Farm Fresh Wednesday afternoon to celebrate and experience the culinary heritage of the African diaspora, including the American south, Haiti, and Jamaica. Gail Ciampa writes in the ProJo:

The more than two dozen local vendors will include the Empanada Assassin, with her primarily gluten-free empanadas; Ja Patty, with their Jamaican patties and rice bowls; Kin Southern Table & Bar, with classic Southern and soul food; Kassumay, with hibiscus fruit spreads and sparkling drinks; Bugg’d Out BBQ, with barbecue and homemade side dishes; and Cakes by Eboni, with a variety of sweet treats for dessert.

This event is a collaboration of Hope & Main, the MUSE Foundation of RI, and AFReats.

(Seen here is a lunch I once enjoyed at Kin: pulled pork sliders, baked mac and cheese, and collards. This may or may not represent what they will be serving at Wednesday’s event. And be advised, these collards are not a vegetarian dish . . . and they are delicious.)

Taste of Juneteenth, noon to 4pm, Wednesday, June 19, Farm Fresh RI, 10 Sims Ave, (directions)
