Summer Beats At RWP

(7.11) The FirstWorks Summer Beats concert series features Dobet Gnahoré this Thursday at the Roger Williams Park bandstand. The event is free and open to the public.

Hailing from Côte d’Ivoire, Dobet is a virtuosic singer, dancer, percussionist, and songwriter who has taken the modern Afropop sounds of her country in exciting new directions. . . Her music is filled with danceable grooves, electronic beats, nimble electric guitar lines and catchy melodic hooks. Gnahoré sings in multiple languages, including the diverse indigenous languages of her native land, as well as French and English, to better convey her optimistic message and reach broader audiences.

4pm to 4:20pm: Dance performance with AS220 – Hosted by Chip Douglas
4:30pm to 5:30pm: Dance workshop with Dobet and CD signing
