(10.20) Head over to the North Burial Ground Sunday for the third annual Mausoleum Hill Sessions. Soak up the ambience while listening to music provided by some top local musicians. Take a look around . . . this place is steeped in local history and familiar names (this is the Brown family mausoleum). Attendees will access Sunday’s event at the gates on North Main Street.
Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, a picnic, and anything else to enjoy what will be the pinnacle of a crisp evening in the spooky season. Feel free to sit wherever you’d like to hear the music or take a moonlit walk around the entire grounds after hours.
You’ll park along North Main Street and enter through the Rochambeau Gate. Our Harvest Market will be the first to greet you. Then follow the candlelit path to the center of the graveyard, Mausoleum Hill. Long Live Beerworks will be on hand for adult beverages, and Sippin Pretty will provide mocktails and kids drinks!
Musical performances: Vudu Sister, Thee Phibbs, Steve Delmonico, Allysen Callery, Brian Shovelton, Cassie Soares, Dave Alves.
Harvest Market runs from 2pm to 4pm. Music runs from 4pm to 8pm.
Tickets are $25. Proceeds will be shared between the City of Providence Parks Department — to go towards maintenance and improvements to the cemetery grounds — and the musicians. The North Burial Ground was established in 1700, open to people of all faiths. Buried among governors, mayors, Revolutionary and Civil War leaders, and Providence’s most prominent citizens, are people from all walks of life: artists, poets, abolitionists, and emancipated slaves.
