(10.26) Whether you’re eating, baking, or bobbing, head over to the Hope Street Farmers Market for all your apple needs. This weekend will be the last Saturday of the 2024 season of the Hope Street Farmers Market. The market operates rain or shine; the weather this weekend looks fine. Organizers remind shoppers of this month’s seasonal offerings like Brussels sprouts, cider, pumpkins, and apple babka. From wiki:
Forerunners to modern Brussels sprouts were probably cultivated in Ancient Rome. Brussels sprouts as they are now known were grown possibly as early as the 13th century in what is now Belgium. The first written reference dates to 1587.
And four hundred years later we all learned how much better they taste when roasted.
Vendors this week include the Barden Family Orchard, Green Leaf Farm, Harmony Hill, Hillside Mushrooms, Provencal Bakery, Robin Hollow Farm, Slowhand Sharpening, The Local Catch, Zephyr Farm, Woodstock Farm, Yacht Club Soda, and many more.
Every Saturday from 9am to 2pm, the Providence Artisans Market operates along the Blackstone Boulevard side of the park. Not surprisingly the emphasis will be on the upcoming holiday this weekend with the Providence Artisans Halloween Market.
