Some good news to share: The Columbus Theatre on Broadway has been purchased by the owners of The Comedy Connection in East Providence. According to abc6 news:
Cory Brailsford and David Fiorillo plan to restore the historic venue to its former name, the Uptown Theatre.
The Columbus Theatre will undergo renovations before being reopened under the new ownership.
“We are thrilled to bring back the Uptown Theatre name and honor its legacy,” said Cory Brailsford.
“Our goal is to preserve its historic charm while introducing exciting new programming that will appeal to a wide range of audiences.”
Minor point: I love the name change, but it seems that the theater spells it “theater.” I assume they will preserve this piece of “historic charm.”
Word first arrived this morning via Cory’s Instagram account where he is identified as an “inconsistent poster.” We know this will be keeping you busy, but try to give us an occasional update . . . people are pretty excited.

Nice touch guys. Welcome to town!
