Hooray for Empire Guitars who will not open until noon today, Election Day, to give their employees time to vote!
And maybe this afternoon would be a perfect time for some retail therapy. What better way to soothe your frazzled nerves than to browse through these aisles. There is often some talented musician noodling away in the corner on some coveted instrument, creating a calming ambience. So why not head over to Empire Guitars this afternoon and, just maybe, that 2004 Fender American Vintage Reissue 1975 Jazz Bass with the black block inlays and black binding on a maple fingerboard will still be there.
My title here is, of course, a reference to the message Woody Guthrie had affixed to his guitar. It’s a metaphor. Nobody is actually going to use these guitars to physically hurt anybody . . . they are far too valuable.
Empire Guitars opens at noon on Tuesday, November 5. And big thanks to Empire manager Mike Samos for being one of the good guys. Follow Empire on Instagram where Mike posts the most gorgeous photos of guitars.
(Regular hours: 9am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday. Closed Sunday.)
