Public Microchip Scanning At PARL

Have you ever found a pet and not known quite what to do? Now you can scan it and help it get back home. The new microchip scanning station at the Providence Animal Rescue League is free and available 24/7. Mounted on the exterior of the building, with scanning instructions and Qr codes, the device is available at all times of the day. The good people at PARL posted last week:

We’re proud to announce the FIRST public microchip scanning station in Rhode Island! Lost pets are no longer a mystery. Now, Providence residents can scan found pets on their own and help reunite them with their families. Let’s make sure every lost pet finds their way home.

I stopped in last Sunday as they happened to be holding one of their “Smallie Spa Days” (another coming up January 5th) when your pet can get nail trimming, fur brushing, and scent gland cleaning at reasonable rates. “Smallies” include rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small mammals.

We wrote about PARL’s pet care clinics for cats and dogs last summer. Services (including microchipping) are provided at affordable prices. More will be scheduled in 2025.

So don’t forget to get your pet microchipped!
