Very soon . . . hopefully the end of the week. [Update: They are open!] We knew that a Fox Point location was in the works and the new Ives Street location looks perfect. The new Dune Brothers Seafood will be an eat-in restaurant, a take-away window, a heated patio with 16 seats, and a fish market! A highlight of the welcoming interior is the neon sculpture glowing on the watery blue tiles behind the counter. The restaurant seats twenty. ProJo writer Gail Ciampa spoke with owners Monica and Nick Gillespie:
The takeaway window which will serve takeout diners will have expanded hours. Once the restaurant is up and running, they will add late night takeout in the 9 to 11:30 p.m. range on the weekends. For the Gillespies, the fish market is an exciting component. “You can come in and get local seafood, from local harvesters, fishermen and women and they all have their own backstory,” Nick said.
And don’t worry, the Dyer Street and Riverside seafood shacks will reopen in the spring. And they are opening a raw bar in the new Track 15 food hall which should be opening in February. I wonder what the Gillespies do in their spare time? And what can we expect at the new place?
William Panzella is chef de cuisine. For the season, you can expect local selections including scup, monkfish, red fish, black bass, tuna, oysters, littlenecks, dogfish, mackerel and bluefish. Their fish shack favorites and raw bar items will also be on the menu.
The Dune Brothers motto “Seafood for the People” is above the door.
