Sarah Silverman — The Vets

(1.23) Head over to The Vets this Thursday for Sarah Silverman: Postmortem. Always smart and painfully honest, Silverman went through a particularly terrible time last year when her father and stepmother died within the span of 10 days — so some of this material may be challenging. But that shouldn’t really come as a surprise; she has always gone there (the name of her memoir is “The Bedwetter”). This is how writers process everything, and what family hasn’t been dealing with grief of late. I suspect some political commentary will sneak in, but her takes are never predictable.

Still, will the evening be . . . fun? Silverman answers,

I promise it’s funny, and I’ve always tended to talk about the darkest reaches of humanity. So, it’s my stand-up, but it has kind of this one overarching topic.

Silverman’s body of work is vast, including but hardly limited to Mr. Show, the under-seen Emmy-nominated The Sarah Silverman Show, and Bob’s Burgers. All the while she exhibited significant acting chops in Masters of Sex and School of Rock. You know by now whether you are a fan.
