The Year of the Snake begins today. Personality traits of people born in snake years are said to be as follows:
Snakes are sensitive, effective, and adaptable, positive personality traits often complemented by a considerable intelligence. They are usually amiable and even-tempered, showing a cool and calm exterior punctuated by occasional bouts of perfectly-timed energy and passion. . . They’re often artistic, which makes them taste-makers others look to for guidance.
We here at The Dose do not actually believe in horoscopes and such and wish more Americans would embrace science. It’s much more interesting and will make you more interesting. Pictured here is the resident corn snake found at the RISD Nature Lab, also known as the Edna Lawrence Nature Lab. He is always sleeping inside this log when I stop by, and the sign on the tank the other day indicated that he had just eaten and could not be disturbed. His name is Wessummussoh, the Narragansett word for Little Brother. Go here for some action footage. He’s much longer than I thought.
