(8.3) The Eric Barao Band will be performing songs from their recent eponymous album Sunday night at the Parlour. Clever arrangements and hooky songwriting got this power pop cd on several of last year’s ‘Best of’ lists. Some new work is on tap as well. Barao has many irons in the fire — movie scores,
(9.19) A special heads-up for a cool night of music Thursday at the Parlour. (Yes, these musicians are personal friends of mine, but they also happen to be good — thank God.) Singer-songwriter Eric Barao — seen here playing with full band at the Red Star Union — will be opening with guitarist Matt Gillooly
(4.27) The Rhode Island Film Collaborative presents the inaugural Rock & Reel music and video show at the Columbus Theatre Saturday night. Nine teams of filmmakers were each paired with a local band to create a music video for one of their songs in one weekend. Come see their work and listen to live performances

I have discussed customized effects pedals in this space before, shamelessly featuring the work of area musician (and my friend) Eric Barao of Cautions fame. But check out the November issue of Premier Guitar — the all-pedal issue! They have selected no less than four of his custom effects pedals in the piece about Build
Well he’s done it again and this may be my favorite so far — check out the instructions, and that adorable LED! Cautions front man, Eric Barao, continues to raise the bar in the genre. (I wish I needed one of these… cuz I really want one. Maybe he could detail my toaster.) All the
In another age these artisans would have been illuminating manuscripts or fashioning jewel-encrusted arks for some dead saint’s finger, but how does this creative impulse express itself in modern times? For some clever types the guitar effects pedal has become the canvas of choice. Fan site Build Your Own Clone has a forum where people
