International Pillow Fight Day

pillow fight Saturday, April 3rd is International Pillow Fight Day.  While I’m not 100% sure I buy the story that spontaneous pillow fights represent some rejection of our capitalist, consumerist culture, I can’t deny the coolness of massive pillow fights occurring simultaneously around the world.

This year’s pillow fights will occur from Boston to Beirut. Even The New York Times is covering the shabang.

So, the question is — where is the Providence pillow fight?

  1. Hmmmm. Well it could be anti-consumerist IF, say, a quiet call was made to bring pillows to a specific spot – say the Prov. Place Mall somewhere, and say IF at a certain time 50 – 100 showed up at one of those great-named stores like ‘the Elite’ or my personal favorite – the Justice store that sells children’s clothing made in Vietnam, and if those 50 people came with their pillow, and well, IF the pillows were feather, and If at a certain hour a whistle (tuba) blew and the pillows emerged and the fight began. And, say then IF that mall area was covered with feathers – job providing clean-up inducing feathers – and if the fight was over quickly, pillows dropped and people just melting away. Hmmm. I don’t mean to start no trouble, of course.
