Big Moves For Marriage Equality

We’re gaining momentum — the AFL-CIO and Newport Dems both endorsed today.  As the NEA’s Pat Crowley put it, he’s “prouder than ever to be a union thug.”

From WRNI:

(WRNI)The push for same-sex marriage legislation has gained two new supporters, including one of the state’s most prominent unions.

The Rhode Island AFL-CIO announced its support of the same-sex marriage bill after a recent vote of its executive committee. The union’s president, George Nee, calls same-sex marriage a fundamental civil rights issue.

Also supporting the bill is the Newport Democratic City Committee. That’s noteworthy since Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed – who is from Newport – remains a key question mark on the same-sex marriage issue.

  1. Perhaps putting down religious faith is not the best way to draw others to your cause. I and other people of faith are alive and well in the 21st century. May god bless you and lead you home. Rob

  2. Rob – I encourage you to educate yourself beyond the high school level – and I am NOT recommending you do so with a fantasy book with imaginary people (aka the bible). I’m looking forward to welcoming you to the 21st century, but until then – have a good day! – Stan

  3. Hey Stan. Jesus told me in the Bible that those who lead others into sin will suffer eternal torment. Just wanted to let you know that.
On a different note, My religious beliefs are not the only reason I oppose so-called same-sex marriage. High school level biology and basic human anatomy are just as compelling reasons. I still continue to beleive that same-sex attraction is disordered and perverse. This push for so-called same-sex marriage is just a plea for endorsing the gay lifestyle.

  4. Hey Rob – I got a visit from God last night. He told me he changed his mind, and he said marriage can be between same sex couples now. You can’t dispute this because I was the only person there. Glad we can put this whole thing behind us. Take care, Stan.

  5. I fail to see how the endorsement of a union helps the cause for so-called same-sex marriage. True marriage is, has been and always will be the union of one man and one woman. No endorsement in the world will change that.
