Saturday, May 21, is the night to lose control in the thrill and spectacle of battle as the highly-anticipated rematch unfolds between Providence Roller Derby’s Rhode Island Riveters and the Dutchland Rollers’ All-Stars. Both scrappy and hungry, the two teams met twice last year, exchanging one victory and one defeat a piece. With many shared opponents this season, and rankings separated by only 2 points, the contest promises to excite, engage and inspire new and returning fans alike!
In her first season as Riveters Head Coach, fiercely devoted and competitive former Riveter, Bunnicula, has empowered her new skaters, pushing a new game where the fear of mistake is replaced by the power of calculated risk. Captains Hot Sauce and Hot Apple Cry will take the chance with the rest of the Riveters against the prowess of veteran Lancaster talents Nash Villian, Twisted Scizzors and White Thrash.
The halftime performance will feature Providence’s own Extraordinary Rendition Band, a street band of brass, reeds and percussion. Fresh off their participation in Austin’s annual street band festival HONK!, the ERB is family friendly and devoted to sharing spontaneous moments of raucous musical joy with the community in the name of peace, love and brass, amen. Join us for our after party immediately following the game to exchange tales of glory and a cocktail at the Spot Underground, 15 Elbow Street, age 21+.
