Three Cities: “History Has A Long Memory”

GCPVD has this post on the proto-proposal to build a soccer-only stadium in Providence, and includes the video Buddy used to promote our proto-bid from a decade ago to build a stadium for the Patriots here. (Bob Kraft played Providence off of Hartford off of Foxboro to secure something like 100 million public dollars from Massachusetts to stay where he was.)

The guy who posted that video to YouTube a few months ago also uploaded this one — Buddy’s promo for his “Three Cities” project — basically his never-gonna-happen wet dream for what he’d do to remodel Providence if a few billion bucks fell in his lap.  Though the broader vision remains relevant to many ongoing redevelopment conversations:  The continuing feud between Pat Conley and the Working Waterfront, the Foundry project which would’ve been demo’ed if Buddy’s cognitively dissonant Patriots dream had come through, and the general consensus that it’s a shame that I-95 barrels through the middle of downtown:

  1. That’s an awesome video, does a great job of selling the City.
Its always interesting how the southside neighborhoods dont feature in these promo materials.
