(6.6) [Update: Due to the weather, the movie has been postponed to Friday, June 6th. See InDowncity. Ed.]
Were you a zygote when “The Breakfast Club” hit theaters in 1985? No worries, you can catch it on the big screen in Providence this very evening, provided reports of the rain going away by then are true.
Bring chairs, blankets, whatever your bum prefers, and plan to nosh on those yummy little macaroon ice cream sandwiches from Ellie’s bakery cart or vegan soft serve from Like No Udder or popcorn and beer from Trinity Brewhouse (have ID for the latter). I took this pic last summer, so obviously it’s a different movie, but it captures more or less what to expect (I hope someone wears that shirt again). Movies are even more fun when paired with fresh air, laughing and cheering strangers, glints of red and green traffic lights, and the occasional siren or revving motorcycle.
Thursday, 6/5, 8-ish p.m., free, Grant’s Block at the corner of Westminster and Union (or in Rhode Island terms, “where Tazza Cafe used to be”)
