Fringe Festival Starts

Aurora on Westminster Street will host a week of FringePVD, presented by the Wilbury Theatre Group in collaboration with URI Providence, featuring the Big Nazo Band, Chifferobe, Marc Kaplan, Hannah Thompson, and more. What is the Providence Fringe Festival? For starters, it’s open to anyone who wants to produce their own show — you might be inspired to join up for next year.

For some artists, it’s a once-a-year opportunity to create a show; for others it can be an opportunity to try something new.

Audiences are encouraged to take full advantage of the variety of performing & visual artists participating in the fringe. Attend performances that you would normally attend, see things you wouldn’t otherwise see.  Keep an open mind, and have fun.

Tickets for all shows are affordable, between $0-$10, and are available at the door. FringePVD promises “100% of all ticket sales go to the performing artists.”

Events run all week at Aurora — from Monday, July 20, through Saturday, July 25 — schedule of performances here.

Opening night party, 7pm to 10pm, Monday, July 20, Aurora, 276 Westminster Street
