Reading At Ada Books — Mann & Mark

(5.7) Brent Legault invites you to a reading and meet the authors — Mann & Mark: A Reading.

Lucas Mann (Lord Fear) and Mark Polanzak (POP!) will read towards you (while you sit in dumbstruck wonder, sighing contentedly, or possibly issuing hoots of encouragement) from their newly minted books. The event is free and awesome and there will be wine if you bring some. See you there!

Mark Polanzak teaches English at the Berklee School of Music and “Pop!” is a book by him. Author Justin St. Germain says,

So real it transcends genre labels—both a penetrating account of his father’s death and an ambitious attempt to remake the memoir form.

NPR reviewed “Lord Fear” by Lucas Mann,

Haunted by his brother’s death, Mann attempts to bring him into sharper focus by plumbing friends’ and relatives’ memories and Josh’s journals. But he quickly learns that memory “is a fight,” tricky and elusive. Like ‘Class A,’ ‘Lord Fear’ demonstrates that Mann is a writer who avoids reductionism, instead embracing complexity and uncertainty.

7pm to 9pm, Saturday, May 7, Ada Books, 717 Westminster Street, (directions)
