RISD Craft Show

(10.8) The RISD Craft Show — an annual juried sales exhibition of alumni and student work — takes place this Saturday on Benefit Street between Waterman and Hopkins Street (the stretch with the RISD Museum and Superior Court). This is a craft show of the highest order.

The outdoor show features handmade goods, fine art and design work by more than 90 alumni and 30 current students. Free and open to the public, RISD Craft is part of RISD Weekend, the annual alumni reunion and parents’ weekend.

As part of this year’s juried sale, the RISD Craft Emerging Artist Award winner is Matt Cavallaro 10 ID with Nest Homeware. Visitors to RISD Craft will be given the opportunity to cast their votes for another award, the People’s Choice Award, during the show.

My vote might go to one of these two alumni. Seen here on the left is the work of Cat Smith (2004, Illustration), and on the right is Christian Tonsgard (2005, Ceramics). But there are many contenders.

Free and open to the public, RISD Craft 2016, 10am to 5pm, Saturday, October 8, Benefit Street between Waterman and Hopkins Streets, (directions)
